With now less than a week to go before the first event, we would take this opportunity to remind everyone, our supporters and those who are planning to donate, exactly the kind of people we hope to help by raising funds for Combat Stress. In the past decade, the number of military personnel who have taken their own life has doubled, with many more suffering from longer term mental health issues. There are many of us that have served on operations and have lost family and friends, and that’s hard enough for everyone, for the unit, for the families, but it’s even worse when they come home and they feel like they’re in an safe environment, and they lose a life.
Combat Stress, the charity and the people, are really important to Sip. They are the one's who deal directly with veterans suffering with mental health issues on a day to day basis. There are other charities out there that do deal with that, but with a history dating back over one hundred years, helping in excess of thirty thousand service personnel in the past year alone, the service they provide is literally life changing for the personnel involved. They are the people that look after those who are fearful to speak about it, those suffering in silence, and those that put on a brave face whilst dealing with the daily anguish. It’s those people that we are trying to help, raising funds for a more than worthy charity, caring people who can really make a difference.
